Hispanic and non-Hispanic populations tend to have very different age structures. Typically, Hispanic populations in the U.S. are younger than their non-Hispanic counterparts. In general, younger populations grow faster.

• those under age 20 made up 34 percent of the total Hispanic population compared to 29 percent of the total non-Hispanic population;
