Hispanic and non-Hispanic populations tend to have very different age structures. Typically, Hispanic populations in the U.S. are younger than their non-Hispanic counterparts. In general, younger populations grow faster.

- those under age 20 made up 42 percent of the total Hispanic population compared to 25 percent of the total non-Hispanic population;
- those aged 20-64 made up 53 percent of the total Hispanic population compared to 60 percent of the total non-Hispanic population;
- those aged 65 and over made up 5 percent of the total Hispanic population compared to 15 percent of the total non-Hispanic population.
