Hispanic and non-Hispanic populations tend to have very different age structures. Typically, Hispanic populations in the U.S. are younger than their non-Hispanic counterparts. In general, younger populations grow faster.

- those under age 20 made up 43 percent of the total Hispanic population compared to 24 percent of the total non-Hispanic population;
- those aged 20-64 made up 54 percent of the total Hispanic population compared to 62 percent of the total non-Hispanic population;
- those aged 65 and over made up 3 percent of the total Hispanic population compared to 14 percent of the total non-Hispanic population.
