They are based on averages of data collected in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. These estimates cannot be used to say what is going on in any particular year in the period, only what the average value is over the full period. Some reservations have no data reported due to their small populations.    The Census Bureau defines a housing unit as a house, an apartment, a mobile home or trailer, a group of rooms, or a single room occupied as separate living quarters (or if vacant, intended as separate living quarters). On the Nez Perce Reservation in 2016-2020... 7,758 housing units were occupied by people of any race, and 73.7 percent of these units were owner occupied. Please note that ORTL stands for Off-Reservation Trust Land.   Note: These ACS data are estimates based on a five-year average, meaning that data gathered from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 are averaged together to come up with the results shown here. There is no problem with comparing these data to census data from 2000.
