All people living on the Nez Perce Reservation: Teens unemployed and not in school

These data come from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, data.census.gov. They are based on averages of data collected in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. These estimates cannot be used to say what is going on in any particular year in the period, only what the average value is over the full period. Some reservations have no data reported due to their small populations.

Teenagers who are not working, looking for work, or in school are usually “hanging out” with nothing to do and no place to go.

On the Nez Perce Reservation, 16.9 percent of those age 16-19 were not working, looking for work, nor in school in 2016-2020.

Please note that ORTL stands for Off-Reservation Trust Land.

Note: "Teens unemployed and not in school" are people 16-19 years old who are not working and not attending school. NA = Not Available. The Bureau does not report data for all reservations for all reference years. These ACS data are estimates based on a five-year average, meaning that data gathered from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 are averaged together to come up with the results shown here. There is no problem with comparing these data to census data from 2000. For a technical discussion of the "margins of error" associated with ACS estimates, please see: (https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/guidance/training-presentations/acs-moe.html)
